HTML5: The New Style in Development

HTML5: The New Style in DevelopmentThe power and functionality of the internet is changing today as technology moves forward and the old becomes the new. Giants like Adobe announced in November 2011 that they will discontinue development of Flash for mobile devices in efforts to develop tools utilizing HTML5. HTML5 is still under development and most of the web’s design talent is already converting over. The various problems with universal browser support exists, but most, if not all, are HTML5 ready.

The semantics of HTML5 helps maintain structure and integrates design concepts such as the over 10,000 <divs> when developing. This also includes the new <video>, <audio> and <canvas> elements, as well as the integration of scalable vector graphics (SVG) content that replaces the use of the generic <object> tags. In addition, new elements, such as <header> and <nav>, are designed to enrich the semantic content of documents.

Conversion to HTML5 will lead to a good approach towards search engine optimization (SEO) with your site or WordPress blog. Better site indexing and search results in engines such as Google and Yahoo with the new <div> and <footer> tags will help sustain a better overall approach to SEO.

As more web users turn to mobile technology for their internet needs, HTML5 will be a key building block for further interactivity that should supercharge both user experience and marketing innovation.

The cross-platform accessibility factor of HTML5 on devices built with Android, iOS, and Blackberry makes developing more apps very appealing.

With the current advent of a more flawless application development environment across multiple platforms the HTML5 revolution is here to stay.

“No one will be using Flash. The world is moving to HTML5.” – Steve Jobs
